West Coast Biking is a company run by Emma Holgate an enthusiastic and adventurous outdoor cyclist based in Lochaber and Wester Ross, Highland.

Emma is a qualified and experienced cyclist and bike guide, with great route suggestions and more…

We have a hub of guides and coaches in the area who we employ on a freelance basis, many of which are personal riding friends who we go on adventures with.

Iain Rogerson is one of our main guides who works closely with West Coast Biking, he is also behind the scenes answering emails. Between Emma and Iain, they coordinate logistics picking the best routes, beds, eating establishments and bring together a community of guides in the Highland area to provide the best bike adventures possible according to the customer’s expectations and requirements for a great bike trip.

Emma on a Bike:

Predominantly a mountain biker, loves exploring and racing in enduro and cross country events across Europe. But there have been times when she has spent time on cyclocross bikes and road bikes again exploring and competing. Having spent every childhood holiday on the west coast and more recently having lived the last 12 years in the highlands she knows all the hideaway locations to explore on a bike.

Iain on a bike:

A cyclist with a passion to explore and ride throughout Scotland. He has raced since a young age in enduro, and has many skills when it comes to speed and the wheels leaving the ground. Growing up in the highlands he knows the area like the back of his hand.

Iain and Emma together have explored and had adventures throughout the world on bikes but still see Scotland to be one of the best locations for touring on the roads and exploring the mountains by bike.

There is also a trail dog that is often hanging about the office, ‘Inver’ the mad collie:

Both Emma and Iain are fully qualified and very experienced guides and riders in all disciplines of cycling. Plus anyone we employ is always fully qualified through the relevant governing bodies that represent cycling.

Alongside the cycling qualifications, we are very conscious of general safety, emergency first aid and casualty evacuation when and if required. We are involved with local mountain rescue teams and over the winter Ski patrol and rescue.

Our company is fully insured for you and for us, for more information regarding the details then please get in touch.

PLUS we are working with SHIELDAIG OUTDOOR ADVENTURES to bring you efficient hire and guiding services in the Torridon area. Shieldaig Outdoor Adventure’s are run by good friends Tom and Emily.
